Gillian is available to teach clinics at her own farm, or elsewhere in the
country. She requires a minimum of eight students, and the cost runs from $150
to $250 per rider depending upon the number of participants. (For clinics
requiring travel, rates may vary further.)
Sessions are limited to a maximum of
four horses each, and a maximum of three sessions per day are available. Each
session runs two hours. Sessions are divided by horse temperament type, not
experience level.
Clinics usually run over two days.
Day 1
- Use of stethoscope and other biofeedback mechanisms to make the rider aware of
and able to exert control over his/her own biomechanical signals.
- Brief personality test for each rider to make her/him aware of dominant and
secondary characteristics.
- Unmounted temperament test for the horse.
- Discussion of whether the rider's natural personality is best suited to the
temperament of the horse, and how personality characteristics more useful to
horse/rider communication might be developed. (For example, assertiveness in
the submissive person, tranquility and patience in the dominant, aggressive
rider.)
- Discussion of biological signals, seat aids and mental visualizations that will
help address each individual horse's problems.
- Mounted session at a walk and slow trot bareback, practicing these techniques
without the barrier of a saddle.
Day 2
- Mounted work with the saddle. It can comprise either:
- Applying these techniques to jumping (from courses of ground poles to 4 foot
combinations depending on horse/rider experience)
or, applying these techniques to flat work and trail riding.
